Kindle Fire for $199 and ships November 15

And there it is, the Kindle Fire. This Amazon tablet has a 7" IPS Display with a dual core processor. It weighs in at 14.6 ounces and a thickness of .45". It has a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 and 8GB of internal storage. It will be released on November 15 and will have free two day shipping. It will come pre-loaded with your Amazon account already registered so you are ready to go out of the box.

The Kindle Fire will certainly be the winner for cheap tablets this holiday season. If you are looking for a simple media tablet this looks to be the one to get. Did I mention it was only $199?

What are your hopes and dreams for Amazon's Press Conference tomorrow?

Tomorrow the e-ink winner, book seller, and all around great company is going to introduce what it has been working on. With the tablet being all the talk since 2010 we can only assume that is what it is. So far I have heard rumors of it being called Amazon Fire, and being similarly shaped to the 7" BlackBerry PlayBook. While only tomorrow can really tell us what it is going to be here are some things to think about.

In March of this year Amazon released it's own dedicated Android App Store. The store has a free app everyday to help promote developers and it can be installed on almost any Android device. The App Store has an approval process before it can be on the store. They also already have a Kindle app and a Shopping app.

They also released the Cloud Drive Player which allows you to download and sync your music between devices and stream music from your Android Phone.

In February they announced their unlimited movie streaming service to Prime members.

With this much preparation it can only assumed that the tablet is going to be Android based, multi-media centered, and app rich. With all of these making for a great tablet I can see two things that it must have to win the worlds hearts. These are great performance, and a superior price.

What will it take for you to get a Amazon made tablet? What do you expect it's main features to be?

Editorial: Are We Really Multitasking?

In the beginning of the fight between smart phone vs. smart phone and tablet vs. tablet, there was a great desire from consumers to be able to multitask like they could on a desktop PC. On a PC you have the option to have many different windows open, this allows you to be able to run and see multiple programs at the same time.

With the PC style of multitasking it allows you to be listening to music in the background or easily switch from a game to using the web. One of the most common forms is having a dual screen computer. This allows you to see multiple programs at once so you don't have to continually change between them while you copy information from one program to the other.

Many of the current Mobile OS platforms have elements of multitasking built in but it seems that they are still far from what we really need. From the beginning of the iPhone you could open up iPod and start your music, then you could switch to view your Calender or messaging very easily while still listening to your music. This is great but let everyone longing for more.

Now the iOS allows you to do this with all apps. You simply press the home button twice to open up the most recent apps so that you can switch from one to the other only running certain tasks like music and or location based services in the background and pausing the rest of the processing. On Android it is a similar way of doing things. When you leave an app it will keep the spot where you just were. You can then hold the home button and a list of recent apps will appear and you can then switch back to where you previously were. Android is known for running many computing tasks in the background to keep all widgets and services up to date with the greatest information.

Yes these process would fall in the line of actual multitasking, but is that what we truly are doing? Right now, look at your computer screen and see how many different windows you have open. Is there just one or are there multiple? Do you spend your time only doing one thing or is there a web browser open on one side of the screen and Word open on the other? These processes are what makes a computer so great. With this we can do much more than what a simple piece of paper could ever do for us.

On the mobile OS this is something that is still yet to be done. Recently Microsoft put out a demo of upcoming features of Windows 8 for touch screens that gives the ability to do this type of computing on a touch screen. There are certain apps right now such as Twitter on the iPad that allow you to view your stream and click on a link to open a new panel where the browser opens so you can still see your stream and view a web page at the same time. This would be great to have in tablets because of the amount of real-estate.

When Honeycomb came out I thought about what would be the one feature that I would love to have on it that iOS did not have. I thought it would be great if you were able to open two Android apps at the same time and use them simultaneously. The possibilities of combinations of apps could be anything. Maybe you want to check your bank account transactions and want to update a budget at the same time but don't want to keep switching back and forth between the apps because it is hard to remember the detailed information. Maybe you a browsing Facebook but want to be playing a casual game of Cut the Rope at the same time.

From what i have learned this is not possible yet on any available mobile OS. I have not been able to find any apps that allow you to open two specific apps at the same time. The ability to do this maybe based on the processor but this definitely needs to be put down on the Need to put in the next OS update list.

Archos' G9 Tablets, with Android 3.1

Tablet after tablet it seems like they are the same specs. 16GB, 1GHz, Dual Core Processor, Wi-Fi. The Archos' G9 really stands out in this area. It has a 250 GB HDD, and a 1.5 GHz Dual Core processor, and optional 3G stick. One of my favorite features is kickstand. Start saving your pennies, this could be the one.

BeBook Live!

I have recently ran across a new tablet device that I think really has great potential. This device is run by Android and has a 7" screen. The BeBook Live is set out to be a great eReader that does more than show off pages of words. With a 1GHz processor, Wi-Fi, and a camera, this could really be the tablet that gets the job done for you!

I would love to be a reviewer for the BeBook Live. This magnificent eReader that has great potential. I really want to be the one that can answer all your questions about the BeBook. I feel there are so many tablets of this size that get over looked and left in the dust. This one will be sure to disappoint no one!

HP TouchPad Introduction

Hp had its Think Beyond event on February 9, 2011. Here they introduced three new devices. The first was a 3.1" smartphone with WebOS called the Veer. The second was a Pre3 with a 1.4GHz processor and a 3.5" screen. The third was a 9.7" HP ThouchPad.  This is a 1.2GHz dual-CPU. It has has new Touch Stone technology which allows you to touch with a new HP phone and it will transfer URL's between the devices.  It also has a front facing 1.3-megapixel for video chat, and internal stereo speakers.

Some of the greatest features are the incorporation of Synergy.  When you use your HP Profile on one device, once you pick up the HP TouchPad and sign in, it will seamlessly be fed with all of your data. This even allows you to receive text messages and phone calls that are sent to your WebOS device on your TouchPad.

There was no firm release date or pricing. They only suggested this summer.  Will they be able to get to the market in time before the iPad 2 is unveiled and steals the market? Let me know what you think.
